  1. Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Salaad is the head of the National Ulema Council, the largest umbrella of Islamic Scholars in Somalia. He is considered one the highest moral arbiters in Somalia. He holds a PhD in Islamic Studies. For over 35 years, he was a leading Islamic scholar who advocated for peace and coexistence among Somalis through moderate interpretation of Islam.
  2. Dr. Deqa Mohamed is the Director of Dr. Hawa Abdi Camp in the southern outskirts of Mogadishu. The daughter of the internationally renowned Dr. Hawa Abdi, Dr. Deqa is also a physician, a social activist and a leading advocate for the most vulnerable population of Somalia.
  3. Yusuf Haile Jimale is a member of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, a social activist and human rights advocate. He’s the founder of SOHEIDA Foundation, an entity focused on creating an enabling environment for Somalia’s most marginalized and most segregated communities (Tumaal & Midgaan). SOHEIDA has successfully created educational opportunities for hundreds of people from marginalized communities.
  4. Dr. Maryam Qasim is a UNICEF envoy on fistula and mother’s health in Somalia. Prior to that, she was the Minister of Social Services, overseeing a vast bureaucracy that included, Health, Education, Gender and Human Rights portfolios. A highly regarded physician and social activist, she launched the widely regarded ‘1 million child to school’ campaign, which won national and international accolades for its success.
  5. Abdirahman Aynte is the founder of Fursad Fund, a social entrepreneur and the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation of the Federal Government of Somalia. Formerly, he was the founder and director of Somalia’s first think tank, Heritage Institute for Policy Studies (HIPS). Previously, he was a journalist for over a decade, holding senior positions at Al Jazeera English, VOA and BBC.
  6. Hassan Yusuf is an entrepreneur and the CEO of International Bank of Somalia (IBS), a leading private bank in Somalia. Prior to that, he was the Principal Risk Manager at Rayaan Bank in Qatar. Mr. Yusuf holds a PhD in Islamic financing and banking.
  7. Mohamed Omar is a life coach, motivational speaker, youth activist and the founder and director of The Success Institute For Human Development in Borame. He is a highly sought after speaker at national and international conferences. His center has empowered youth through structured seminars, activities and self-empowerment and mindset development programs.
  8. Prof. Mohamed Ali “Kalaay” is the President of University of Southern Somalia in Baidoa. Previously, he was the Minister of Higher Education and Culture in the Transitional National Government. He’s a renowned educationist and advocate.
  9. Sahro Koshin is the Deputy Director of the Somali Institute for Development and Research (SIDRA), a think tank in Garowe, Puntland. She a well known social activist and researcher. For many years, she has been advising various government agencies and civil society institutions on gender equality and women’s empowerment.
  10. Prof. Abdulqadir Hikam is the President of Kismaayo University in Jubbaland. A social activist and educationist, he pioneered higher education in Kismaayo area.
